Nichole Ruiz
Nichole Ruiz is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer with a passion for visual storytelling, community-building, and championing underrepresented voices.
Originally from the Philippines, Nichole brings a deep sensitivity to character, culture, and craft. Her work spans narrative, documentary, music video, and branded content, marked by a balance of technical precision and emotional depth. Collaborators rely on her for her knowledge of camera systems, lighting, and emerging tech — but just as much for her calm leadership and collaborative spirit on set.
Her recent projects include Strong, Smart & Bold, a documentary series with Girls Inc., where she filmed powerful real-life stories including an interview with Dr. Laurie Leshin, the first female director of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Her feature film TAHANAN (HOME) received the Grand Prize at the 2022 Culver City Film Festival. She also shot For the Love of Dogs, a comedy series directed by Jess Rona and starring Jake Johnson and Taylor Schilling.
Nichole is also the co-founder of Howling Gale Entertainment, a Filipino-owned production company based in LA. Through her work, she strives to not only create compelling imagery but to build spaces where new stories and storytellers can thrive.
